Biomechanical Running Assessment

A runner’s technique affects their overall running performance. Evaluating running biomechanics and movement patterns can identify the forces placed on the body and help determine if these forces are hindering performance or contributing to discomfort and/or pain.

A thorough biomechanical evaluation assists in identifying problem areas and serves as the foundation for developing a customized plan to address impairments and prolong the enjoyment of running for recreation or athletics.

The running assessment has two components. A functional movement assessment will analyze your muscle strength, flexibility, and joint range of motion to identify any weakness, muscle imbalance, or mobility deficit. The assessment continues with the treadmill (or outside if weather is suitable) to allow the trainer to identify vulnerabilities in your form. During the follow-up appointment, the trainer will share their findings and provide a plan that details recommendations for improvements to help reduce the risk of injury and increase efficiency.

Things to know:

    • This is a two-part package that includes both a functional assessment and a 45-minute follow up appointment to discuss its findings.
    • Clients are asked to bring their running footwear to their first appointment. Please come prepared to run on our treadmill for a period of time.

Biomechanical running assessments can be booked in person at Heritage Fitnessby phone, with our mobile app (available for iOS and Android), and online.
