Practitioners at our Collaborative Care Centre in Carleton Place offer a variety of treatment approaches to address the concerns of their clients. Treatment recommendations are offered during initial assessments. Follow-up treatments ensure progress is being made towards recovery.

Musculoskeletal / Physical Therapies
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that uses individual microneedles gently inserted into the skin to treat various ailments. Athletic Taping
Athletic taping — also referred to as kinesiology taping, kinesio taping, or k-taping — is an adhesive tape applied to the skin to support specific muscles and/or joints, aid in recovery, and/or prevent injury. Athletic taping is offered by the following practitioners: Chandler Kutney (chiropractor), Nick Mosco (physiotherapist), and Lindsay Abercrombie (physiotherapist).
Concussion Management
Concussion management involves the testing, diagnosis, and treatment of concussions with the goal of supporting clients’ return to daily activities. Concussion management is offered by Nick Mosco (physiotherapist), and Lindsay Abercrombie (physiotherapist).
Cupping Therapy (Fire)
Fire cupping uses a glass cup and a temporary heat source to produce a suction effect on the skin surface that helps encourage blood flow and release muscle tension. Fire cupping therapy is offered by the following practitioner: Jennifer Johrendt (naturopath).
Cupping Therapy (Dry)
Dry cupping uses silicone or plastic cups and a handheld pump to produce suction on the skin surface that helps encourage blood flow and release muscle tension. Dry Needling
Dry needling uses individual microneedles applied to trigger points on the body to induce muscle relaxation, improve joint mobility, and/or treat scar tissue. Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture is similar to dry needling and acupuncture in approach but with the added element of subtle electric current to enhance the intensity. Fascial Stretch Therapy
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a specialized form of assisted stretching that targets the fascial system, a network of connective tissues surrounding muscles, joints, and organs. A deep and intense treatment, FST aims to improve flexibility, alleviate pain, relax the nervous system, and enhance overall functional mobility by targeting and releasing tension within the fascial network. Gua Sha
Gua sha is an ancient therapeutic technique rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that has been rediscovered and embraced for its rejuvenating and wellness benefits. This practice involves the use of a smooth-edged tool to scrape the skin in order to stimulate blood circulation and promote the release of tension and toxins from the body. Bruising can occur with gua sha and can last between three and seven days. Gua sha is offered by the following practitioner: Emily Franzgrote (registered massage therapist).

Bamboo massage is a unique and rejuvenating therapeutic technique that involves using smooth, heated bamboo sticks of varying sizes to knead and roll over the body. Massage — Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage massage helps improve the circulation of the lymphatic system and supports the immune system by encouraging the body to rid itself of toxins. Mulligan Therapy

Osteoarthritis Pain Management
Osteoarthritis pain management uses a combination of joint-specific pain relief techniques (soft tissue work, mobilizations, adjustments, acupuncture), joint-specific strengthening and mobility work, and education about self-management techniques for osteoarthritis to help individuals improve and maintain mobility and manage pain. Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
Pelvic floor rehabilitation is used to decrease pain and other symptoms associated with pelvic floor dysfunction including urinary incontinence or other issues, pain with intercourse, or chronic constipation. Scar Correction Therapy

Spinal Stenosis Management
Spinal stenosis management is a hands-on treatment used to reduce low back and leg symptoms (soft tissue therapy, mobilizations, adjustments), exercise is used to find pain-relieving positions and build endurance for daily activities, and education is given to help the patient understand spinal stenosis and how to manage it so that they can keep doing the things they love. Tibetan Acupressure

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy uses soft-tissue manipulation to identify musculoskeletal restrictions and release them through directed manual pressure and massage. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

Many insurance providers offer financial coverage for the health care services offered at our Collaborative Care Centre. Please check with your provider for details. Certain medical expenses are also eligible to claim on your personal income tax. Refer to Canada Revenue Agency for details.
Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) Claims
Please note that while we do work with clients who have been injured at work, we do not complete or submit the paperwork that accompanies WSIB claims nor do we direct bill insurance companies. We do offer medical reporting for a fee. Please contact us for more information.
