EmpowerHER workshops were created for girls to provide them with the tools for developing social skills, self-acceptance, and emotional well-being. By offering a safe, supportive environment, we aim to inspire girls to embrace their unique qualities, build strong connections with others, and foster a positive mindset that supports personal growth and long-term success.

Designed to empower girls to navigate life’s challenges with confidence, self-awareness, and resilience, these 90-minute workshops are presented to youth groups such as Girl Guides, sports teams, after-school programs, dance programs, and other youth-oriented groups. Workshops are tailored to the age of the group. Organizers can request one of the two workshops listed below:

Peer Power: Skills for Connection and Support

Peer Power: Skills for Connection and Support is an engaging workshop designed to help girls navigate friendships, manage peer pressure, and build healthy communication skills for stronger relationships. Through interactive activities such as role-playing, group discussions, and real-life scenario analysis, the group will learn how to celebrate diversity, foster inclusivity, and cultivate resilience. This workshop also explores the impact of social media and provides strategies for maintaining a positive digital presence while promoting personal growth and well-being. Topics include:

    • navigating friendships and bullying
    • understanding peer pressure and making positive choices
    • healthy communication skills for strong relationships
    • celebrating diversity and inclusion
    • social media awareness
    • cultivating resilience and overcoming challenges

Inside Out: Building a Positive Self-Image

Inside Out: Building a Positive Self-Image is a dynamic workshop designed to empower girls with tools to develop confidence, resilience, and self-acceptance. Through interactive activities like mindfulness exercises, vision boards, and mini workouts, participants will explore topics including nutrition, physical activity, emotional well-being, and body positivity. This program emphasizes personal growth and provides practical strategies to build healthy habits, embrace emotions, and foster a positive outlook on life. Topics include:

    • healthy habits for a balanced life
    • embracing emotions and mental health
    • building a positive body image
    • nutrition and healthy eating habits
    • physical activity and its benefits
    • goal setting and personal growth
    • mindfulness and breathing techniques

About Kerry McCormick

Carleton Place Personal Trainer Kerry McCormickKerry leads our Fit Club for Girls program and is a health coach, personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and yoga teacher. Her approach to health is holistic; encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual elements.

Her education and experience have allowed Kerry to work with youth, seniors, and law enforcement in addition to personal training with clients one-on-one and leading group fitness classes. Her enthusiasm for health and fitness has taken her to Bali where she earned her vinyasa yoga certification and to Mexico where she led group fitness classes and worked as a personal trainer for five years. Kerry is an advocate for healthy living as a way for people to make positive changes in their life and improve well-being.
