Carleton Place Counsellor Courtney MacIntyre

Courtney MacIntyre is a registered social worker and psychotherapist with nearly 20 years of experience supporting adolescents, young adults and families through complex life challenges. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Social Work from Carleton University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo.

Courtney’s practice is rooted in attachment theory and the cultivation of strong emotional relationships. She specializes in guiding youth and families through issues such as mental health, drug misuse, human trafficking, abuse, running away, truancy, criminalized behaviour, social media addiction, and homelessness. Her approach emphasizes connection, interdependence, and is strength-based and anti-oppressive.

Known for her compassionate and grounded ‘real-talk’ approach, Courtney excels at helping individuals understand, process, and reframe the challenges they face. While her background is deeply rooted in working with youth and their families, she also brings extensive experience working with adults into her practice, offering support and strategies for a wide range of concerns such as anxiety and depression, disordered eating, processing childhood and family dynamics, identity exploration and the complexities of navigating social, cultural, and political uncertainty. Courtney is a Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)-approved therapist.

Courtney is committed to fostering safe, supportive environments where individuals and families can build lasting, healthy relationships and thrive.
