The term “male menopause” has been used to describe decreasing testosterone levels related to aging. Hormone changes are a natural part of aging. Unlike the more dramatic reproductive hormone plunge that occurs in women during menopause, sex hormone changes in men occur gradually.
Other possible symptoms of male menopause include decreased energy, motivation and confidence, depressed mood, and poor concentration. It’s also possible to experience increased sleepiness, sleep disturbances, mild unexplained anemia, reduced muscle bulk and strength, and increased body fat.
Our team of practitioners can help you navigate these symptoms. Along with a discount on a three-month fitness membership at our facility, our andropause care package involves three services:
Counselling: Two 60-minute sessions with one of our counsellors
Mental health is a large component in your overall wellbeing. Working with a counsellor, you will learn coping strategies to help with any anxiety, depression, lack of sleep, and/or self-confidence issues you may be feeling.
Naturopath: One initial consultation and one 30-minute follow-up appointment
Andropause typically occurs between 40 – 50 years of age for men; however, testosterone can begin to decline for men in their 30s. With men, testosterone decreases more slowly, making andropause difficult to detect. With male menopause, men experience more non-specific symptoms, such as fatigue, lower stamina, etc., that are often passed off as normal signs of aging.
Through bloodwork analysis (cost not included in package price), a naturopath will check your testosterone levels and work with you on developing a plan to address the decline.
Personal Training: Five individual training sessions with a certified personal trainer
After your consultation with one of our personal trainers, they will meet you where you are currently at in terms of your fitness level and the andropause symptoms you may be experiencing. Whether it be muscle loss, weight gain, or a lack of confidence, they will focus on all aspects of your lifestyle to ensure you are getting the most out of your training.
Your personal trainer will customize a fitness plan specific to your goals. By creating a long-term fitness plan that you can build on as you progress, your programs will continue to challenge you and adjust as your fitness levels improve.
