Carleton Place District Memorial Hospital Foundation

For the past four years, Heritage Fitness has proudly support the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital with its fundraising efforts. We believe that it takes a combined effort of funding from the Ontario Government and local community support to establish and maintain a health-care system as successful as our own. In the past three years, we have directly donated over $20,000 towards much needed equipment for our local hospital and contributed to fundraising events that have collectively raised over $280,000.

Heritage Fitness celebrates another great year with a gift to the CPDMH Foundation

The Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) Foundation is pleased to announce that the Hospital has received a gift of $5000 from the Heritage Community Fitness Centre. The gift was presented during the recent 4th Annual Get Active! Community Fitness Challenge which raised over $15,000 to help purchase a colonscope for the Hospital’s operating room.

“We were excited when the Foundation approached us about hosting the Fitness Challenge three years ago and decided it would be a good opportunity to present the Hospital with a donation to celebrate the 1st anniversary of our opening,” stated Kevin Price, Owner of the Heritage Community Fitness Centre. “We are very pleased to see the Fitness Challenge grow each year and we are thrilled to continue the tradition of recognizing our anniversary by making a donation to the Foundation on behalf of our members.”

Heritage Fitness opened on April 1, 2007 and at that time, the facility named the Hospital as its charity of choice. Since then, Heritage Fitness has donated more than $22,000 to the Hospital’s equipment needs, and has contributed to many events held on the Hospital’s behalf.

Heritage Fitness is currently involved in the second expansion of its facility. When complete, the building will have an additional 4000 square feet which will provide bigger areas for free weights, stretching and core strength, and cardio, strength & free weight equipment. The expansion will also provide more clinic space on the second floor and a new rehabilitation and light weight area. Also involved in the expansion is the development of an acre of outdoor green space for core conditioning, rehabilitation, and performance training.

“We are so happy with the relationship we have been able to build with Heritage Fitness and we can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for us in the last four years.” stated Spencer Grabe, President of the CPDMH Foundation. “As a member of Heritage Fitness, I’m looking forward to seeing the outcome of the expansion plans and on behalf of the Foundation and the Hospital I would like to congratulate Kevin and his team on another successful year in the community.”

Heritage Fitness is now planning Century Tour 2011 for Sunday June 26. The event, hosted by personal trainer Jenny Andress, features an enjoyable bike ride through Mississippi Mills and cyclists have an option of choosing a 50 or 100 km route. Last year the event raised $1342 for the Foundation and this year a portion of the event proceeds will once again be donated to the Hospital.

Cyclists raise money for Carleton Place Hospital

On Saturday June 26, 25 cyclers braved the rain to participate in the 1st Annual Century Tour organized by Jenny Andress, a personal trainer with Heritage Fitness Community Centre. The event offered cyclists a 50 or 100 kilometre route which started at Heritage Fitness and travelled through the Mississippi Mills area including Appleton, Almonte, Clayton and, in the case of the 100 km ride, Pakenham. The race was organized on behalf of the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) Foundation and raised $1342.

“I originally wanted to plan an event where people would have to challenge themselves while striving to reach an attainable goal and I thought it would be neat to see the response we would receive if we planned a bike event,” stated Ms. Andress. “I am very pleased that in our first year we had 25 people participate in the ride and it’s always a bonus if we can do something that benefits the Carleton Place Hospital.”

“This was an amazing event and I’m really glad that I decided to participate,” stated Chantelle Troy, Manager/Community Relations Officer of the CPDMH Foundation. “It was a challenge but very doable and I would like to thank Jenny and Heritage Fitness for organizing this event on our behalf.”

“We were a little disappointed to see the rain on Saturday morning but all of the riders completed their ride and at the end, they were very proud of their accomplishment,” stated Casey Carswell, Director of Programs and Services for Heritage Fitness. “I would like to thank everyone who responded to Jenny’s challenge and helped us to once again pull off a great event in support of the Carleton Place Hospital.”

“We don't just want this to become another annual event on Heritage Fitness’s calendar, we want this to become the BEST annual event in the area! So that means we have already started thinking about next year and the possible changes we need to make to ensure the ride is more comfortable, more fun, more...better! ,” continued Ms. Andress.  “Completing this ride is a great goal so with all that in mind, we have set the date for 2nd Annual Century Tour for Saturday, June 25, 2011!

The Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) Foundation is pleased to announce that the Hospital has received a gift of $5000 from the Heritage Community Fitness Centre. The gift was presented to the Hospital Foundation during the recent 3rd Annual Get Active! Community Fitness Challenge.

“This is another wonderful gift from Heritage Fitness and on behalf of the Foundation, I would like to thank Kevin and his team for their continued support of the Hospital and its needs”, stated Norma Hamilton, President of the CPDMH Foundation. “We are honoured that Heritage Fitness has taken such an active role in helping with fundraising efforts on the Hospital’s behalf and we are especially grateful for their help with the Fitness Challenge.”

Heritage Fitness opened a little over three years ago and at that time, the facility named the Hospital as its charity of choice. Since then, Heritage Fitness has donated nearly $15,000 to the Hospital’s equipment needs, has hosted events for the Hospital that has raised more than $25,000 and has contributed to many other events held on the organization’s behalf.  The recent gift given by Heritage Fitness will be used to purchase surgical equipment for the Hospital's orthopedics program.

“We firmly believe that strong community support is vital to having a great community hospital and it was a very easy decision for us to name the Carleton Place Hospital as our charity of choice”, stated Kevin Price, Owner of the Heritage Community Fitness Centre. “We are very proud of the contribution we have been able to make in the last three years and we would like to thank our membership community for making this possible.”

Moving forward, Heritage Fitness has plans for further expansion and has purchased the remaining acre of land that runs alongside the outdoor sprint track on the North-East side of the building. This land will accommodate substantial new construction that will allow Heritage Fitness to better serve the needs of its growing membership community. The expansion is expected to create more space, better traffic flow, and allow for new equipment purchases down the road.
