FAQ

How will I learn how to use the equipment?

Many of our members are new, or returning to fitness and exercise. Everyone who joins the gym can participate in a free orientation to the facility. Your Personal Trainer will spend some time with you showing you how to use the equipment and provide you with a Fitness Action Plan modified for your level of fitness and personal goals. This will provide you with greater confidence, knowing that you are performing safe and effective exercises so you can get started right away.

What types of programs do you offer?

There are programs available for all interests and levels of fitness. One-on-one personal training, group classes, and small group-training sessions are offered so you can choose the learning style best suited for you. We also offer a variety of sport-specific, mind-body, or health promotion programs. Please visit the Programs portion of our website for details.

Why should I participate in Group Fitness Classes?

The classes are a great way to stay motivated and have fun while you exercise. Because most classes run 45-60 minutes, it’s a good option if you are looking for quick, full-body workout. There is a dynamic social energy that happens in a group setting that can encourage you to stay committed to your fitness routine. The Instructors are trained to make sure you are using safe technique, and you get a great workout in an effective amount of time. For details on intensity level please read the description for each class in the Programs portion of our website or ask us for suggestions!

What if I will be away and can’t use the gym?

We offer a membership hold for planned leave from the gym. This is useful if you know you will be away for extended holidays or if you need to take time off for medical reasons. Please ask us for details.

Do you offer kids/youth programs?
At various times throughout the year we offer programs suited for ages 5-12 years old. This includes Yoga for Youth, Sports Training Clinics, and Junior Fit Clubs. Youth Memberships are also available for ages 12-15, for a minimal fee, when accompanied by an adult member.  Proceeds from our youth memberships go towards our Youth Scholarship Fund.

What should I wear to the gym?
You should wear something you feel comfortable in, and can move in freely. There are many choices designed specifically for athletic wear (smooth seams, breathable fabric, and comfortable stretch) but a good pair of shorts or sweat pants and a t-shirt will work just fine! Avoid wearing anything that may be offensive to other members. Clean, athletic footwear is also required.

How often will I want to work out? Different people have different schedules, goals, and abilities. If you can commit to performing some exercises a few times per week, one of our Trainers can provide you with details on the best approach for you.
